Ocean-Recovered / Ocean-Bound rPET
A premium category sourced from plastic waste collected from or near ocean waterways, including coastal communities with limited formal recycling infrastructure. Ocean-bound plastic is collected before it reaches the ocean; ocean-recovered plastic has already entered the ocean and been removed.

How Much Recycled Content Is "rPET"?
No universal legal minimum exists for a product to be labelled "rPET" — it could contain as little as 1% recycled content. A responsible supplier states the exact recycled content percentage and provides GRS or RCS certification to verify it.
When briefing your supplier, ask for:
- The percentage of recycled content in the product (e.g., "made from 100% post-consumer recycled PET")
- The certification standard (GRS, RCS, or equivalent)
- The certification body and certificate number
